Dreaming Of An Alaskan Cruise

Taking a cruise to Alaska is a dream that many people might never actually get the opportunity to be part of. An Alaskan cruise is a great adventure and everyone who gets the chance to go will certainly enjoy this trip into a beautiful location that seems like an island of its own.

Historians/Anthropologists – Alaska is one of the few places in North America that is filled with rich, untouched history. Unlike other locations that have grown and become more modern, Alaska tends to stay in the void. The cold climates and necessary travel to get to Alaska prevents many of the “big box” type retailers and businesses from moving in to the state.

Cruise Megastore: Hidden Treasures of European River Cruises

Cruise Megastore: Hidden Treasures of European River Cruises: If you’ve ever dreamed of seeing the city of Paris from the Seine, or the Gothic architecture of Central Europe from the banks of a great river, then a river cruise is definitely the right holiday package for you.

Hidden Treasures of European River Cruises

The landscape and history of Europe have delighted and fascinated travelers for centuries. The optimal way to experience both the ancient, modern and natural wonders of the continent is on a European river cruise. Several of Europe’s majestic rivers flow from one country to the next, or through many countries, giving cruise travelers the chance to see a variety of cultural and historical sites without rebooking, repacking or even leaving their comfortable river resort.

Additionally, river cruise packages still offer the all-inclusive amenities their ocean going counterparts are known for, including food, drink, activities and accommodation, all ranging from the comfortable and economical to the extremely luxurious.

If you’ve ever dreamed of seeing the city of Paris from the Seine, or the Gothic architecture of Central Europe from the banks of a great river, then a river cruise is definitely the right holiday package for you.

There are literally dozens of routes and lengths of time available for travelers, crossing between countries and geographic regions.

In Germany, book a river package cruise along one of its ancient rivers and have the opportunity to view medieval castles amid glorious scenery, stopping along the way to enjoy a stroll through a typical town or village and a traditional meal. For example, a Rhine river cruise will allow you to see its origins in Switzerland before moving on through France, Germany and Holland.

Cruises originate in several well-known cities such as Strasbourg, Amsterdam, Dusseldorf, Brussels and Cologne. This passage reveals the mysteries of European history through medieval castles, fortresses, palaces and provincial towns. Along the way, Europe’s well known vineyards and farms will bring to mind the incredible culinary tradition of the continent. Choose a Danube River cruise for an incredibly romantic adventure. The inspirational Danube flows through Central and Southeastern Europe, gracing nine countries in all: Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, Romania and Croatia.

Cruises depart from such noteworthy cities as Vienna, Budapest, Nuremberg, and Strasbourg, each of which has their own amazing history and culture to stimulate the senses. Experience the thrill of crossing the richly historical borders between European cities which have stood for centuries. From the Black Forest to the Black Sea, view and explore formidable medieval towns and famous European landmarks, stopping along the way to enjoy wineries and local delicacies. Danube River cruises can be short or extended, and the longer the journey, the more you’ll see. Some famous sights include Nuremberg’s Imperial Castle and Justice Palace, the Vienna Opera House, and the Iron Gate between Romania and Serbia. Exploring the Danube Delta is an excellent way to catch native wildlife in an undisturbed setting.

Travel Tips When Traveling With Children

If you are taking children on your next holiday or cruise you need to take some extra time to prepare for your trip.

When you pack your luggage, you should pack a bag especially for the children. There is rolling luggage available with characters and designs that would really appeal to most children. Pack one of these for them and let them wheel it themselves. It will give them a sense of independence.

Make sure that you have something in your carry-on luggage that will appeal to children. Things like books and coloring materials are great to have. It will help keep the children occupied when they are feeling particularly restless.
Make sure to check your child's packed bags if you allowed them to pack them all by themselves. You do not want to be held up at the security gate because there is something in your child's bag that should not be there.

Always bring a first-aid kit with you when you are traveling with children. This is a good idea because the little ones are prone to spills and you want to be able to take care of any accident that occurs.

Cruising Offers Something For Your Special Occasion

Cruising is the most flexible way to holiday because it offers activities based on your interests, age, hobbies and passions. Activities do vary depending on cruise line, ship and destination.

That's right, tie the knot and say, "I do" aboard an elegant, luxurious cruise ship.

  • Purchase honeymoon, wedding and anniversary packages
  • Let cruise coordinators make your weddings hassle-free
  • Get married on board or at an exclusive port of call
  • Plan small ceremonies or bigger galas
  • Show up in tuxedos and dresses or with bare feet
  • Be showered with a cake, flowers, champagne and chocolates
If you are looking for a cruise deal for that special occasion, you might want to have a look at cruisemegastore.com.au where you can find the the largest selection of  cruises in the southern hemisphere.

Name Me And Win a Resort Holiday!

As you know I just got back from Daydream Island and because I did such a fantastic job reporting from Daydream Island the boss is sending me OS in June. Las Vegas here I come! The problem is I don’t have a passport. Why don’t I have a passport you ask. I don’t have a passport because I don’t have a name.
This is where I need your help, I need a name so I can get my passport and get on the plane to Las Vegas. If you give me a really cool name that I like then your name will be added to a short list of 10 and put out to the world to be voted on. After all this if the name that you suggested gets the most votes then you will win a fabulous resort holiday for 7 nights.

Now before you start coming up with names like Priscilla, Reginald or Beiber  there a few thing you need to know about me.
  • I am a koala
  • I am male
  • I love to travel
  • I am cuddly
  • I love an adventure

River Cruising in Germany

Medieval castles, beer festivals and lush nature reserves: just three of the reasons to see Germany from the deck of a river boat. Why go River Cruising in Germany? The simple answer is that it’s one of the best ways for a visitor to experience the scenery and culture of the country. From major historical sites to excellent food and wine festivals, the cruises along the great rivers of Germany offer a cultural experience that shouldn’t be missed by anyone traveling through Europe. These rivers have been traveled since the Stone Age, and each subsequent culture has added to the idyllic settings along each bank, as both ancient and modern architecture, rolling landscapes and breathtaking natural wonders blend organically into the rivers’ bends.
There are three major rivers in Germany: The Oder (which flows into the Baltic Sea), the Danube (flowing into the Black Sea) and the Rhine (which flows into the North Sea). Both the Danube and the Rhine also have several main tributaries which offer alternative diversions into more of Germany’s landscape. No matter where you want to go in Germany, there will be a river to bring you there. Travelers can partake in this amazing experience for anywhere from just a few hours to several days or even weeks. Boats will stop along the way to allow travelers an opportunity to view the castles, old towns, vineyards, and forests that make up Germany’s unique cultural landscape. More adventurous travelers can engage in outdoor activities such as hiking in the mountains along the river. For a more laid back experience, take a stroll through one of Germany’s long established riverside towns.
Though the best time of the year for travel in Northern Europe are the months of  May, June, and July, travelers who are interested in the traditions of German culture can find festivals celebrated along the rivers at many times throughout the year. From  food and wine connoisseurs, to avid trekkers and art and culture fans, each and every traveler will find something to please and excite them on one of Germany’s magnificent river cruises. Contact Cruise  Megastore for your next cruise holiday.

Not Your Typical Aussie Tourist

My story:
I am your not-so typical Aussie Koala. I live in the bush with my family in South-East Queensland, but I have a real yearning to travel the World.  I had never travelled  further than a few trees down, until this weekend, when my adventures through Cruise Megastore really began.

My Weekend Getaway to Beautiful Daydream Island

Living in the bush, I didn’t realise how many beautiful islands there were off the Queensland coast, but my weekend getaway gave me a taste of just some of the highlights on offer.

Leaving Brisbane on Friday I flew to the tropical paradise of Hamilton Island. On the edge of the Great Barrier Reef, this picturesque Island is one of 74 making up the stunning Whitsunday Islands. From there, I caught the super quick Cruise Whitsundays ferry across to the beautiful Daydream Island Resort.

My aim for the weekend was to explore this tropical paradise and to relax in its serene surroundings. Daydream is a private island located only 5kms off the mainland. Only 1km in length and 500m wide, its crystal clear waters, perfect white sandy beaches, and colourful coral reefs, make it the ideal holiday destination – suitable for families, couples, wedding parties and of course Koalas!

My weekend of doing nothing however did not turn out quite as planned. There was just so much to keep me occupied! From feeding the tropical fish and sting rays in the ‘Living Reef’, using the resorts free water activities, playing the Australian-themed putt putt golf course, to meeting the locals, there was loads to do!

Being within easy reach of Hamilton Island and the mainland, Daydream Island Resort is a great weekend getaway destination. With very reasonable pricing for the range of facilities available, this serene resort will suit anyone’s budget.

For more details on Daydream Island Resort packages, call Cruise Megastore on 1300 657 948 or visit www.cruisemegastore.com.au/daydream-island/
